Bruker Buys Mineral Analysis Software
Berlin, Germany 6/20/16—Bruker has announced the acquisition of Yingsheng Technology for an undisclosed amount. Yingsheng’s Advanced Mineral Identification and Characterization System (AMICS) software package is designed for advanced minerals identification and characterization. AMICS is used with SEMs, energy dispersive x-ray spectrometers (EDS) and micro-XRF analyzers. “Making AMICS an integral part of our QUANTAX EDS systems will enable us to offer researchers and OEM partners in earth and material sciences enhanced analytical power for minerals characterization,” stated Bruker Nano Analytics Division President Thomas Schuelein. “With AMICS, we can now even better serve the increasing demand in the mining and other industries for fast, highly productive and precise automated phase analysis.” Yingsheng Founder and CEO Dr. Ying Gu has joined Bruker, as have other Yingsheng engineers.
Used in materials science and geological research, AMICS automatically identifies and characterizes mineral and synthetic phases. A number of SEM manufacturers offer phase analysis software and systems including FEI, TESCAN and ZEISS. EDS providers that offer such software include Oxford Instruments and Thermo Fisher Scientific.
