Micro GC firm APIX Analytics announced in May that it raised €3.7 million ($4.1 million). Investors include Air Liquide.

INFICON Emergency Response & Security sales increased 5.1% sequentially in the second quarter but declined 43.3% year over year to $4.1 million, or 6% of company sales. In the third quarter, segment sales grew 43.9% sequentially but declined 6.1% year over year to $5.9 million.

Product Introductions

Bruker changed the name of its SCION GC-TQ triple quadrupole MS systems to the EVOQ GC-TQ, effective July 1.

In September, Shimadzu Scientific Instruments released the new ECD-2010 Exceed electron capture detector, featuring a newly designed capillary ECD cell that uses contact-free technology.

In November, Shimadzu released the GCMS-QP2020 single quadruople GC/MS, featuring a new turbomolecular pump for improved sensitivity.

In October, Agilent Technologies introduced the redesigned 8355 sulfur chemiluminescence and 8255 nitrogen chemiluminescence detectors, featuring easier maintenance. They are fully integrated with the Agilent 7890B GC and are available on a standalone basis.

Agilent Technologies launched the single quadrupole 5977B High Efficiency Source GC/MSD System, stating that it has “limits of detection 10 times lower than anything in its class.”

Phenomenex launched the Zebron ZB-5MSPLUS 5% phenyl-arylene phase GC column for improved responses to active compounds.

Activated Research Company (ARC) introduced the Polyarc reactor, a catalytic microreactor that eliminates the need for calibrations of a GC FID detector. It converts GC eluants into methane molecules before the FID.
