Company Announcements

Bruker announced in November 2014 that Techcomp will continue to manufacture the SCION GC and GC single-quadrupole MS product lines it acquired from Bruker (see IBO 10/15/14) in California. Bruker will continue to provide service and support for the product lines. Techcomp has a deferred option to acquire the service business in the next 12 months.

ALPHA MOS revenues for the year ending September 30, 2014, fell 19.5% to €7.1 million ($9.6 million), according to a Google translation. Instruments, and service and consumables represented 60% and 40% of sales, respectively. Japan, North and South America, Europe and Rest of World accounted for 33%, 26%, 25% and 16% of sales, respectively. The agri-food sector accounted for the majority of sales. As of November 2014, DMS holds a 73% share in the firm (see IBO 8/31/14), and ALPHA MOS emerged from bankruptcy in September 2014 (see IBO 12/15/13).

Product Introductions

Shimadzu introduced the e-Series comprehensive 2-D GC systems. It includes the Ultra-e GCxGC system and the MD-GC 2-D GC system.

Falcon Analytical released in October 2014 the PALARUS GC Autosampler for its CALIDUS GC.

In December 2014, Shimadzu launched the 5D Ultra-e LC-GCxGC-MS/MS system for 5D analysis, featuring the GCMS-TQ8040 triple-quadrupole MS and dedicated 5D Solution software from Chromaleont.

In January, JEOL introduced the JMS-T200GC GC-TOF MS system, featuring GC x GC capabilities and measurements of up to 50 spectra/sec.

HTA launched the HT2800T all-in-one GC autosampler for liquid, static headspace and SPME, featuring the SynringeID technology based on RFID tags.
