INFICON Acquires Maxtek

Maxtek’s product lines include thin film deposition controllers, liquid plating monitors and research systems, all based on its QCM technology. Competing techniques with QCM include dual polarization interferometry and surface plasmon resonance.

Zurich, Switzerland and Syracuse, NY 5/31/07—-INFICON has acquired Maxtek, a provider of instruments and software for thin film deposition and quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) measurements. Terms were not disclosed. “Maxtek’s strong reputation and its products complement INFICON instruments, enabling us to provide a more complete product range for thin film coating processes which are vital for the manufacturing of eyeglasses and precision optic products,” said Lukas Winkler, president and CEO of INFICON. Based in Cypress, California, Maxtek has around 25 employees and was the first company to offer digital equipment for thin film deposition processes and sciences, according to INFICON.
