Simulations Plus named John K. Paglia, PhD, associate dean at the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University, to its Board in November 2014, replacing Harold Wayne Rosenberger.

Under a collaborative agreement, synthetic-biology software firm Genome Compiler integrated DNA2.0’s gene-synthesis services into its design platform.

According to a November 2014 report from Reuters, Thermo Fisher Scientific will correct a glitch in its Kinetica statistical software for analyzing bioequivalence data, following an academic paper and European Medicines Agency discussion of the software error.

In December, Vista Equity Partners acquired TIBCO Software for $24 per share, or $4.3 billion including the assumption of net debt. TIBCO provides Spotfire software, which is exclusively licensed to PerkinElmer (see IBO 8/31/13) for certain research markets.

In January, the University of Michigan appointed DNASTAR as the exclusive provider of the I-TASSER structure-prediction software to commercial entities.

Optibrium and NextMove Software agreed to collaborate on the integration of their respective StarDrop cheminformatics software suite and Matsy technology for generating and searching databases.

Certara released in November 2014 Simcyp Population-based Simulator 14, featuring oral-absorption models.

GE Healthcare Life Sciences launched the scalable UNICORN 7.0 software for controlling protein-purification runs as well as cell culture and preparation. It features a new evaluation module.

Andor Technology released Komet 7 and Komet 7-GLP for the analysis and management of comet assay samples, featuring Win 7.0 compatibility.

In December 2014, Media Cybernetics introduced Image-Pro Insight 9 image-analysis software, featuring a simplified image-capture interface.

In January, ChemAxon launched the Biomolecule Toolkit, a suite of integration tools to enable scientists to represent and query complex biological molecules within their information systems.

ChemAxon released the Marvin Live web-based collaboration tool and meeting assistant to enable real-time structure design for distributed research groups.

Advanced Chemistry Development (ACD/Labs) introduced Version 2015 of the ACD/Spectrus and ACD/Percepta cheminformatics software. ACD/Spectrus features new advanced capabilities for chromatographic method development.
