In April, Spectro Inc. changed its name to Spectro Scientific.

Elcometer opened a Houston, Texas, office in May.

In July AMETEK named Werner Mueller as managing director for the Petroleum business unit of AMETEK Oil and Gas, which includes Grabner Instruments and Petrolab. Most recently, he was managing director, Central Eastern Europe at Angst & Pfister.

Nikkiso announced in July the separation of the Particle Analytical Equipment business into a new subsidiary, MicrotracBEL, effective October 1. The spun-off business had fiscal 2014 sales of ¥1,455 million ($15 million).

DKSH will exclusively distribute Postnova Analytics’ products in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Product Introductions

Bowers introduced in May the NEXUS 8000 Series of universal hardness testers. It covers hardness-testing forces from 1 kgf/9.8 N to 3,000 kgf/29 kN (8003).

In April, Spectro Scientific introduced the Spectro LaserNet Fines Q200 Series, available in three configurations. It provides a particle counter, wear-particle classifier and ferrous monitor in one package.

Anton Paar introduced in the US in May the Callisto 100 cold filter-plugging point test, which can also be used for manual cloud and pour-point measurements.

Micromeritics introduced in June the AutoPore V Series of mercury intrusion porosimeters, available in two models.

Mettler-Toledo launched the TMA/SDTA1 thermomechanical analyzer, available in four versions with furnace systems optimized for measurements of -150–1,600 °C.

Mettler-Toledo introduced in July the Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC) 2, with the new FRS 6 sensor.

Mettler-Toledo released the TGA (thermogravimetric analyzer)/DSC 2, available with various TGA, DTA (differential thermal analysis) and DSC sensors with optimized beams.

In June, Quantachrom Instruments released the VSTAR vapor sorption analyzer, available in one-, two-, three- or four-station models.

Shimadzu Scientific Instruments introduced four universal testers in its Autograph AGS-X Series: the 20 kN and 50 kN table-tops and the 100 kN and 200 kN floor types.

Hitachi High-Technologies launched the STA7200RV TGA/DTA, capable of measurements up to 1000 °C by using a sample observation option.

In July, Malvern Instruments launched the Zetasizer Helix, which combines dynamic light-scattering technology with Raman spectroscopy.

MTS Systems released the 1 kN MTS Criterion 41.103 Universal Test System, with force capacities of 1 N to 1 kN.
