For the fiscal year ending March 31, revenue for Nikon’s Scientific Solutions Business (formerly Life Science and Industrial Systems) grew 15.2% to ¥98,510 million ($983 million), with 80% consisting of Industrial sales and 20% being Life Science sales. Fiscal 2015 segment sales are forecast to increase 5.6%.
Zeiss Microscopy sales for the first half of fiscal 2014 ending March 31 grew 3.6%, 2% on a comparable basis, to €314 million ($430 million) to make up 15% of revenues.
In May, Olympus named Representaciones y Distribuciones as a distributor of its industrial microscopes in Mexico.
Tescan Orsay established Tescan France in June, following the recent establishment of Tescan UK, and ended its distribution agreement with ELOÏSE.
FEI announced in June a collaboration with the Metals Lab at the University of Manchester’s Electron Microscopy Centre in the School of Materials. The lab will focus on steels and nonferrous alloys research.
In a June SEC filing, FEI announced a resource-realignment plan to improve efficiency, including site consolidations, closures and staffing reductions. FEI expects to incur $17–$21 million in charges in connection with the plan.

Product Introductions
JEOL launched in May the JEM-ARM300F TEM, which achieves a resolution of 63 pm in scanning-TEM mode at 300 kV. The annual sales target is 10 units.
Agilent Technologies introduced the Scanning Electrochemical Microscopy mode for its Agilent AFM, featuring the EC SmartCart cartridge, which combines a nanoelectrode with a premounted AFM tip.
Agilent Technologies announced the availability of inverted light microscope and scanning-tunneling microscope capabilities to its 7500 AFM.
In June, FEI introduced the Helios PFIB DualBeam, which includes a plasma-based focused ion beam.
Nanoscience Instruments announced the exclusive availability of the affordable traxAFM and traxSTM systems.
Leica Microsystems introduced the Leica Application Suite Advanced Fluorescence software 4.0, which enables researchers to perform 2-D image analysis on multichannel experiments.
Andor Technologies, an Oxford Instruments company, introduced the Revolution DSD2, a compact, laser-free confocal module for fluorescence microscopes.
