Pall Adds SPR to Label-Free Portfolio

Fremont, CA 1/9/17—Pall ForteBio, a division of Pall Life Sciences that provides analytical system for biopharmaceutical development, has acquired SensiQ Technologies for an undisclosed amount. SensiQ’s product line consist of the Pioneer and Pioneer FE systems, three-channel, fully automated SPR instruments with OneStep gradient injection technology. “The Pioneer SPR systems are the perfect complement to the Pall ForteBio’s Bio-Layer Interferometry [BLI] family of label-free instruments,” commented Pall ForteBio General Manager Dominik Arnold. “It expands the range of solutions we offer our customers from small molecule fragment screening to detailed biologics characterization that are all critical in pharmaceutical drug discovery and development as well as academic research.” The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter, with the product line integrated into Pall’s California operations.

Pall ForteBio’s BLI technology and SPR can be viewed as competing technologies as both label-free techniques for measuring biomolecule interactions, but they are also complementary, with SPR providing greater accuracy in general.
