South Korean President-elect Park Geun-hye has announced a restructuring of government ministries, including the creation of the Ministry of Future Creation and Science. The new Ministry will incorporate the duties of the former Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, as well as the responsibilities of the Korean Communications Commission for information and communication technology. The new Ministry will also be charged with developing growth plans. A new Ministry of Education will also be formed. As a result of the changes, the National Science and Technology Commission will no longer exist. Formerly part of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Korean Food and Drug Administration will be promoted to a ministry overseen by the prime minister’s office.
