Company Announcements AAPPTec appointed Presearch to distribute its peptide and organic molecule synthesis instruments. Biotage AB announced in February that due to the “unsatisfactory” profitability of its Chemical Development business, it will gradually close the business. Biotage AB and McMaster University’s Institute of Applied Radiation Sciences signed an agreement to develop a new chemistry platform for faster production of molecular imaging and therapy agents. Activotec reported that revenues grew 20% in 2006 and noted strong sales growth for custom peptides and proteins, as well as synthesizers. Sales/Orders of Note In February, CEM announced the 100th sale of the automated Liberty Microwave Peptide Synthesizer, which was introduced in February 2005. CEM has sold 40 of the Discovery SPS System, a manual peptide synthesizer.
