CLC bio Succeeds in Accelerating Life Science Research

CLC bio had a breakthrough year in 2008 and is looking to continue along the same positive path in 2009. One of the major milestones in 2008 was the release of CLC bio’s innovative solution for analyzing Next Generation Sequencing data, CLC Genomics Workbench, which is very popular and already the best selling software solution by CLC bio. The success of this solution is also apparent when looking at the fact that CLC bio crossed the magic line of more than 1 million downloads for all their software packages.

Dr. Roald Forsberg, Director of Scientific Solutions at CLC bio, states, “The development process leading up to the release of our first solution for Next Generation Sequencing, once again underlined the competence and maturity of our development team. We haven’t looked back since, releasing a constant stream of new features and improvements, and have an extremely ambitious development roadmap for 2009, which – among other things – includes solutions for Digital and Analogue Gene Expression, ChIP-Seq, and Color Space analysis, as well as structural variation analysis tools.”

CEO at CLC bio, Thomas Knudsen, adds, “We’re no longer a small start-up company, and several achievements in 2008 stressed that fact. We moved our headquarters and now occupy the entire top floor at a brand new office building in a Danish equivalent to Silicon Valley. Furthermore, we expanded our sales offices, so we have now local representation in USA, United Kingdom, Brazil, India, Singapore, and Denmark. Most importantly, however, we managed to double our sales in 2008 and aim to do that again in 2009 through our goal of helping the life science sector accelerating their scientific results, reaching their goals faster and with better results!”
