First-of-its-kind Thermo Scientific™ CultiMaxx™ Shelving System increases shelving capacity by up to 150%, maximizing batch consistency, incubator capacity, and vessel accessibility

Overview: As advanced therapy techniques are evolving and gaining in popularity, scientists are challenged to work faster and meet the growing patient demand. To help labs keep pace, Thermo Scientific is offering a first-of-its-kind shelving system to increase the capacity of incubators using the four most-common cell culture production vessels. With the Thermo Scientific™ CultiMaxx™ shelving systems, Thermo Scientific™ Heracell™ VIOS™ 250i and Thermo Scientific™ Forma™ Steri-Cycle i250 COincubators can support up to a 150% increase of G-Rex bioreactors without compromising performance. Advantages are found across a variety of incubator models and vessel types, allowing scientists to scale-up their production of cell therapies according to their preferred methods.

“Cell therapy is only at its beginning of transforming human health,” said Douglas Wernerspach, Sr. Business Director and General Manager – CO2 Incubators, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “Laboratories working in regenerative medicine will be challenged to keep pace with increased demand over the coming years. CultiMaxx Shelving Systems are an ideal offering for these scientists who want to scale up production of cultured cells quickly and efficiently, while retaining their current lab footprint.”

The CultiMaxx System is designed to fit more batches and improve vessel accessibility for the following large vessels when using select Thermo Scientific CO2 incubators:

  • 1L or other cell culture bags
  • Thermo Scientific Nunc™ Cell Factory™ systems with 10 or 13 layers
  • Thermo Scientific Nunc Cell Factory systems with 4 layers
  • G-Rex® bioreactors from Wilson Wolf Corporation
Key Applications: Cell therapy manufacturers, biotech companies and pharmaceutical companies who want to scale-up production of cultured cells, government/research/clinical institutions and academic labs focusing on advanced therapies, regenerative therapies, stem cell therapies, cell culture research

  • Increased capacity for vessels: Up to 3X capacity for select CO2 incubators without compromising performance, including:
    • Thermo Scientific Heracell™ VIOS 250i/Vios 250i CR – CTS™ Series
    • Thermo Scientific Forma™ Steri-Cycle i250/Steri-Cycle i250 CR – CTS™ Series
    • Thermo Scientific Forma™ Steri-Cult 323L, 3310/3311
    • Thermo Scientific Forma™ Reach-In 821L, 3950/3951
  • Fit-for-purpose features: promoting optimal growth conditions including increased gas exchange when using cell culture bags and improved filter clearance on Nunc Cell Factory systems or similar vessels, while enabling individual vessel access
  • Easy-to-install: Customers can retrofit CultiMaxx shelving into their existing Thermo Scientific CO2 incubators on their own or with service support
  • Enhanced durability: Stainless steel, reinforced shelving to support increased loads and to minimize deflection
