Waltham, MA- On the last day of the month, Thermo an-nounced the purchase of EGS Gauging, a Massachusetts-based manufac-turer of measurement and control instrumentation for web process appli-cations in the plastics processing and converting industries. Financialdetails were not disclosed. Thermo stated that the acquisition would addadditional web processing applications to its coating weight gauging port-folio. Thermo Electron also announced the purchase of Netherlands-basedOmega Data Systems BV, the developer of the UniQuant software for se-quential x-ray fluorescence spectrometers (XRF). The software allows forquantitative analysis without the need for instrument calibration using amatching standard.
